Pearland Art & Crafts on the Pavilion Event Adds Culinary Art

The Pearland Art & Crafts on the Pavilion, presented by the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau, takes place Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway Street. Visitors can shop for unique art, handcrafted goods, and artisan created pieces designed by local & Houston area artists.

“We’re very proud to add culinary art this year in the form of ‘Food as Art’ on Saturday and a ‘Food Truck Court’ on Sunday,” according to Kim Sinistore, Executive Director of the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This free, two-day event is a perfect reason for a weekend stay in Pearland with special rates offered by area hotels,” added Sinistore.

Sponsored by Kroger, “Food As Art” debuts on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. featuring Spanish pintxos tapas delicately created by Dawson High School culinary students and tastings offered by La Madeleine for purchase. Proceeds will benefit Dawson High School Culinary Scholarships.

The “Food Truck Court” arrives on Sunday from 11 to 5 p.m. offering tasty menu items by D’Lish Curbside Bistro creators of TEX-ified Southern Comfort & Gulf Coast Inspired Poutine Style Fries & Gourmet Burgers, and noted Nom Mi Street offering Asian fusion and Vietnamese menu items. Pearland’s Chilly Willy delicious frozen shaved ice truck will also be on-site.

Live music rounds out the event with sounds from Courageous Band on Saturday and Pearland’s own Modulation Band on Sunday. Kids can create their own keepsake art pieces at the Interactive Station sponsored by Keep Pearland Beautiful.

A special exhibit by the Pearland Arts League will be on display at the Visitor Center in addition to offerings available for purchase during the event.

Health information and creativity meet in Pearland

Women from across Pearland joined Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital Monday for “The Art of Knowing.” The free event provides top quality health information for women in a fun, creative and comfortable setting.

The Escape & Paint Art Studio provided the backdrop for the evening offering women insight into female cancer prevention and the importance of early detection. Memorial Hermann Southeast Obstetrician/Gynecologist Aurora Gonzalez, M.D., and Gynecologic Oncologist Joseph Lucci, III, M.D., held a question and answer session with the more than 35 women who attended.

Following the question and answer time the group enjoyed a painting session and the opportunity to create their own works of art and share stories with one another.

Olson Announces Congressional Art Competition

SUGAR LAND - Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) calls on all high school students living in the Twenty Second Congressional District of Texas to participate in the Congressional Art Competition. This competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each Congressional District.

The first place winner from our Congressional District will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year. As part of this competition, the district first place winner receives complimentary airfare to fly to Washington, D.C. to see their art displayed in the Capitol Building during an unveiling ceremony.

Artwork is due to the Sugar Land or Pearland office by Friday, April 24th. In addition to you artwork, you will need to submit the student release form. Bayou City Art Festival March 27 - 29

Celebrating its 44th year, the Bayou City Art Festival brings fine art from around the country for a family friendly, three-day outdoor spring festival at Memorial Park.

  • Times: Noon to 6pm Friday; 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday

Pearland Arts League Reception Launches “ART to the MAX” Exhibit on Feb 18

Pearland Arts League, in collaboration with Re/Max Top Realty, announce the joint venture of the ART to the MAXexhibition.

Sam Ferreri, President of Re/Max Top Realty invited Pearland Arts League 2D artists to exhibit their work in the extensive space of the 2911 S. Sam Houston Pkwy East Top Realty office.

Make plans to attend the launch reception for the ART to the MAX exhibition at 5:30 p.m. on February 18 at the Re/Max Top Realty office located on 2911 S. Sam Houston Pkwy East.

Pearland Arts League volunteer chairman for this on-going exhibition is Ms. Sally Stubbs. Ms. Stubbs coordinated the installation of over 60 pieces of art in the Re/Max Top Realty offices at Beltway 8 and Hwy. 288. According to Ms. Stubbs, this exhibition will continue throughout 2015 with changes and additions being made to the exhibit on monthly basis. Artists represented in this initial showing include talented Pearland Arts League artists from the greater Pearland area.

Mr. Sam Ferreri and his staff are very excited to present quality art to the public.

Mr. Ferreri stated, “Original art is a great match for our clients who are buying real estate and may need to select the perfect piece from the “ART to the MAX” exhibition for their home or business. We invite the public to stop by and experience this extensive exhibition”.

Hilton Garden Inn to Launch Pearland Arts League “2015 Exhibition Season”

The Pearland Arts League 2015 Exhibition Season will include 12 businesses featuring art exhibitions within the City of Pearland. The Hilton Garden Inn located at 12101 Shadow Creek Parkway will host award-winning artist photographer, Sally Stubbs in January. Dee Northcutt, general manager stated “The Hilton Garden Inn is pleased to host the Pearland Arts League’s first artist in businesses for 2015”.

Ms. Stubbs’ work will be on display at the Hilton Garden Inn beginning Sunday, January 4 through Friday, January 30. Other work by Ms. Stubbs, can be viewed on her web site at sallystubbs.com. For a list of upcoming artists and businesses, go to pearlandartsleague.com.

Reflection Bay to Host Holiday Market Nov 20

Reflection Bay Event Center in Pearland throws its doors open for a Holiday Market on Thursday, November 20 from 4 to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy shopping for a variety of gift items including accessories, cosmetics, jewelry, toys and more! A portion of the retail sales will benefit One World Foundation. Free admission.

Summer Art Classes Available

DHS Student Wins Art Champion Award at Rodeo

Congratulations to Dawson High School artist Matthew Wu, who won class champion in painting at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. His painting, “Bodyguard” sold for $60,000. Wu receives a portion of the money, and the rest goes to rodeo scholarships. Eight Pearland ISD students displayed their art in the Hayloft Gallery this year after winning “best of show,” “gold medal” and “special merit” during rodeo art judging in January.
