Led by Abbie Harrelson’s victories in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, the Dawson Lady Eagle track team finished second at the prestigious Texas Southern Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Harrelson won the 3,200 meters in 11 minutes, 33 seconds and took top honors in the 1,600 in 5:17.
Dawson also received a winning performance from its distance medley relay team of Bethany Taylor, Briana Alba, Miranda Thornhill and Harrelson with a time of 13:03.
The Lady Eagle 400-meter relay team of Teresa Davis, Cydney Boudreaux, Paige Kimble and Erica Davis had a third-place time of 47.60.
Gia Petties scored the remaining Dawson point with her sixth-place finish in the high jump as she cleared 5-2.
Fort Bend Hightower won the meet with 80 points while Dawson scored 53 points. More than 50 schools competed in the meet.
