Pearland Islamic Center to host Annual Spring Carnival honoring local heroes

570296e34d428.imageEvery year, the Pearland Islamic Center hosts a Spring Carnival with a different theme each year. Last year’s theme was the Inter-Faith Peace Garden. It was a successful event attended by Christian Church leaders, Hindu temple representatives, Inter-Faith Ministries of Houston, Jewish Rabbis and city dignitaries, including Pearland Mayor Tom Reid.

This year the theme is, “Honoring our local Heroes,” including Pearland Police Department and Pearland Fire Department. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is co-sponsoring the event.

“Our ‘Honor our Heroes’ event will bring various faith traditions and city officials together to demonstrate our appreciation and support for the brave police officers and fire fighters in our community,” said Abul Azad, Director of the Pearland Islamic Center. “Moreover, it will be a wonderful opportunity to draw the public’s attention to the danger our first responders face every day while wearing the uniform.”

Bazaars, food, games, rides, bounce houses, mountain climbing, train rides, a petting zoo, Henna tattoos, face painting and balloon artists are just some of the attractions.

The entry fee wristband is $15 for unlimited fun.

The Carnival will be held on Saturday April 9 at the Pearland Islamic Center, located at 1530 Garden Rd.
