Counseling Connections and the City of Pearland Parks & Recreation Department present the 3rd Annual Family Matters Fun 1k / 5k / 10k Walk/Run and Family Fun Day on September 24 at Pearland Town Center. Registration is at 7:00 a.m. and the event will last until 12:00 p.m.
A fundraiser, complete with children’s activities, rotating stage shows, refreshments, live music and a huge silent auction, will follow the 1k, 5k and 10k.
There were 300 walker/runners in 2015 and 1,000 spectators. The goal is to double that number in 2016 to raise awareness for mental health issues and much needed funds for the community.
Both the 5k and 10k are sanctioned by the USATF. Packet pick-up will be on Thursday, September 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, September 23 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wild Pear Running, located at 9330 Broadway St., Suite D400.
Counseling Connections for Change, Inc. is a non-denominational, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to strengthening the mental health in Brazoria County. We are the only Christian counseling center in our county, and we have committed to impacting the lives of our families without the burden of financial constraint!
Unfortunately, 42% of our families require outside financial support to receive quality care. These families may have Medicaid, Medicare, Military benefits, or be completely uninsured. With over 100 clients entering our offices each week, we depend on the generous support of our neighbors who have been blessed to give, and who believe that Family Matters!
