Pearland police spokesman Officer Jason Wells said Wednesday that Bardales was in the roadway at about 5 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. As the victim lay in the road, he was struck again by a second vehicle that also fled the scene.

The driver of the first vehicle later arrived at the Pearland Police Department to be interviewed by detectives. Wells said the first driver’s case will go to a grand jury to determine whether charges will be filed.
