On Thursday, May 25, the Texas Transportation Commission approved a grant of approximately $500,000 for the Pearland Regional Airport. These funds will be used for planned airport improvements, including signage, fencing, safety, and security improvements.
“General aviation is a vital industry to our state’s economic growth,” Representative Ed Thompson (R-Pearland) said. “I’m so pleased that Pearland Regional Airport is being recognized for their contribution and being given the opportunity to expand their impact.”
“Providing this funding to the Pearland Regional Airport is key to supporting area aviation,” added Laura Ryan, Texas Transportation Commissioner. “This is a vibrant facility that plays an important economic role in the local community.”
Project costs will be funded through the Clover Acquisition Corporation and the Texas Department of Transportation’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system.
Representative Ed Thompson is currently serving in his third term in the Texas House of Representatives and his district encompasses Pearland, Alvin, Manvel, Brookside Village, Hillcrest, Liverpool, and portions of Iowa Colony and Rosharon. He is the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and serves as a member of the House Committee on Transportation.
