Icy road conditions making driving hazardous this New Year’s Eve

By Valerie Wigglesworth, Staff Writer

Scattered reports of wet and icy roads greeted North Texans on Sunday along with the promise of colder weather to ring in the New Year.
Numerous crashes have been reported on area roads from Fort Worth to Denton to Frisco and Plano due to icy conditions. Drizzle and light rain – even some snow flurries – were reported throughout North Texas. Authorities urged motorists to use caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for several counties, including Denton and Collin counties, from 6 p.m. Sunday through noon Monday. That’s when wind chills are expected to drop below zero, according to the National Weather Service.
