AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin Todd RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth capped a three-run rally as Texas battled back to claim a 7-6 victory over LSU on Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and finish off a three-game sweep of the No. 1-ranked Tigers. Texas (10-3) trailed LSU (8-3) heading into the bottom of the ninth, 6-4, when the Longhorns got to work in front of a raucous home crowd on a bitterly-cold afternoon on the Forty Acres.
Facing LSU relief pitcher Todd Peterson, Texas has the first two batters of the inning reach base as catcher Michael McCann was hit by a pitch and second baseman Masen Hibbeler singled to right. Freshman infielder Lance Ford advanced McCann and Hibbeler with a bunt before center fielder Duke Ellis beat out an infield single to bring in a run and make it a one-run game, 6-5, in favor of the visitors from Baton Rouge.
