Meet Sean Murphy, Running for PISD Board, Position 4*

782Sean Murphy, a 20-year resident of Pearland and a graduate of Pearland High School, is seeking election to the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees, Position 4. Murphy and his wife, Lisa, are the proud parents of a 5th grade student at Alexander Middle School and have a vested in the future of Pearland ISD.

Murphy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and is currently the Vice President of HomeTown Bank of Pearland.

HomeTown Bank’s mission is to serve the community in which hiring locally and encouraging employees to take an active role in their community. Murphy states, “I am fully committed to rolling my sleeves up to do the hard work of a school board trustee; whatever it takes to ensure that all students have a path to success.”

In addition to being a husband, father, and local businessman, Murphy is an avid community volunteer who serves in a variety of ways. He currently serves as the Board President for the Pearland Neighborhood Center. He is also the Treasurer of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce, where HomeTown Bank of Pearland was recently named Member of the Year. He is an active Rotarian, and a member of the Pearland Lions Club. Murphy states, “I have a firm belief that I should actively serve the community where I live.”

Murphy is also a Founding Member of the Pearland ISD Education Foundation, which works to raise awareness and funds to support educational programs and activities that are not funded through the district’s budget. Additionally, Murphy serves as a director of the Northern Brazoria County Education Alliance (NBCEA), an organization whose purpose is to align industry, business, government, and education in an effort to improve the regional workforce and economic growth in the Pearland area. In his two years serving on the Board, Murphy helped the NBCEA to raise over $171,000 in scholarships, consumables and equipment.

Murphy said, “I am looking forward to contributing professionalism, energy, management experience, and a transparency to the Pearland ISD Board of Trustees. I am vested in supporting teachers, ensuring that the district keeps parents involved, and guaranteeing that all students have access to a path to success.”
