After three public hearings, modified development agreements and various letters and emails, McKinney City Council unanimously voted to “discontinue and terminate” the proposed annexation process at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The city proposed to annex several properties prior to Dec. 1 totaling approximately 5.9 square miles of land in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction—or land outside the city limits that it is legally allowed to incorporate.
However, after public hearings and discussion with residents and landowners, City Council chose to discontinue and terminate discussions about annexation.
