GCISD trustees hear report on mandatory drug testing at meeting July 23

At the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees meeting July 23, Deputy Superintendent Brad Schnautz provided a report of the district’s drug-testing program to the board of trustees. The program is mandatory for GCISD students in competitive extracurricular activities.

In the 2017-18 school year, nine tests returned positive for marijuana substances, one test returned positive for cocaine and one student refused to test, which automatically qualified as a failed drug test. This brought the total positive illegal substance count for the school year to 11, which is the same amount of total positives as the previous school year.
