Grapevine Police Dept. asks for public’s assistance

Grapevine Police are investigating a fatality accident involving a pedestrian on SH-121.

Just before 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Grapevine dispatchers received multiple calls about a person walking in a lane of traffic near the 500 block of North SH-121 northbound. A few minutes later, another motorist called 9-1-1 saying he hit someone in the roadway.

Officers responded within five minutes of the first 9-1-1 call and discovered a female already deceased.

Investigators spoke to two drivers who stopped in connection to the accident, as well as several passengers. All drivers and witnesses were fully cooperative. Nobody is facing charges for the female’s death.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release her name pending notification to the next of kin.

Officers shut down SH-121 as they investigated the crash, and received assistance from Grapevine Fire and DFW Fire to help block the roadway. At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, a motorist crashed into a Grapevine Firetruck. Nobody was hurt. The driver was arrested for DWI.

Grapevine Police want to thank everyone who called 9-1-1 to report the person walking in traffic, as well as all of the fire personnel who helped ensure our first responders were safe as they investigated the accident. While the secondary crash was a result of intoxication, it is a great reminder to always slow down and move over when you see crews at work.
