Valentine’s Day Giveaway from Mike Fox Photography

See details about this unique giveaway from Mike Fox Photography:

Why should you do a glamour / boudoir shoot with us?

There are lots of reasons, but here are some directly from my clients:

I think it’s very important for every woman to take time out of their busy lives for themselves to feel pampered and beautiful.

Feeling beautiful and feminine and capturing that feeling in a picture. As a working mom you forget to do for yourself because you are busy caring for everyone around you. This would be so much fun!

A gift for my husband. After being married with 4 kids sometimes the sexy is the last thing on my mind. I would like to show him it’s not gone.

I got to take off my ʺmom hatʺ and put on my ʺfeel beautiful sexy woman hatʺ

WIN: Don McLean and Judy Collins at Arena Theatre

Win two tickets to see Don McLean and Judy Collins!!

McLeanCollinsThe Arena Theatre proudly presents two enduring icons of the folk movement of the sixties and early seventies in one concert: Don McLean and Judy Collins on Friday January 29, 2016!

Don McLean

“American Pie”: https://youtu.be/5QUYvRaQ4XM

“Vincent”: https://youtu.be/4wrNFDxCRzU

Don McLean is one of America’s most enduring singer-songwriters and is forever associated with his classic hits “American Pie,“ ”Vincent (Starry Starry Night),” “Castles in the Air,” “And I Love You So” and “Crying”. Since first hitting the charts in 1971, Don has amassed over 40 gold and platinum records world-wide and, in 2004, was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. His songs have been recorded by artists from every musical genre, most notably Madonna’s No. 1 recording of “American Pie” in 2000 and George Michael’s version of “The Grave” in 2003, sung in protest at the Iraq War. In 2007, Don McLean shared his life story in Alan Howard’s biography, The Don McLean Story: Killing Us Softly With His Songs. In June 2011 Don performed for an audience of 100,000 at the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts. Don’s new album “Botanical Gardens” is set to be released, including the Youtube hit “Waving Man.“

Judy Collins

“Both Sides Now”: https://youtu.be/A7Xm30heHms

“Send in the Clowns”: https://youtu.be/KCE-Bijdvv0

Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable personal life triumphs, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 50-album body of work, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century.

The award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns” won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards.

Judy began her impressive music career at 13 as a piano prodigy, but the hardluck tales and rugged sensitivity of folk revival music by artists such as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger seduced her away from a life as a concert pianist. In 1961, she released her masterful debut, “A Maid of Constant Sorrow.” As a tastemaker within the thriving Greenwich Village folk community, she brought other singer-songwriters to a wider audience, including Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, and Randy Newman. Throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and up to the present, she has remained a vital artist, enriching her catalog with critically acclaimed albums while balancing a robust touring schedule.

This year she released her first studio album in four years, “Strangers Again,” with a cast of icons and young talents from Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne and Jeff Bridges to Glen Hansard, Ari Hest and Bhi Bhiman.

timthumbDuring Charlie Daniels’ 50-year career, he has scored hits on the rock, country, pop and Christian charts and counts his awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM), TNN/Music City News Awards, and the Gospel Music Association (GMA) among his many accolades. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was raised on a musical diet that included Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass bands, rhythm & blues, and country music from the radio, including Nashville’s 650 WSM. His signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” topped both country and pop charts, bringing him international acclaim. Skilled on guitar, fiddle, and mandolin, his contributions to country and southern rock are legendary on the path of platinum that’s carried him to virtually every music industry award and accolade presented across multi-genres. The CDB’s current release is Off the Grid-Doin’ It Dylan, a tribute to Bob Dylan. Little could Charlie Daniels have imagined in the late ’60’s as a young studio musician answering a call from producer Bob Johnston to add his creativity on guitar to three of Dylan’s Nashville produced projects (Nashville Skyline, Self Portrait, and New Morning,) that he was on the first steps of the journey to his own destination as a musical icon.

logo_mtbThe Marshall Tucker Band got its start in Spartanburg, S.C. when Doug Gray teamed up with Tommy Caldwell and Toy Caldwell, Paul T. Riddle, George McCorkle and Jerry Eubanks, borrowing the name “Marshall Tucker” from a piano tuner whose name was found on a key ring in their old rehearsal space. In years to come, The Marshall Tucker Band would wow critics and influence major country acts like Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, and Travis Tritt with its definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel. With hit singles like “Heard It In a Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Can’t You See,” and “Take The Highway,” The Marshall Tucker Band earned seven gold and three platinum albums while they were on the Capricorn Records label.

ATTENTION ASPIRING ACTORS/SINGERS/DIRECTORS: Hollywood Comes to Houston on October 17-18: FREE TICKET DRAWING

Experts from all aspects of Hollywood bring their knowledge to NRG Center

HollywoodHoustonHOUSTON — Houston area actors with dreams of Hollywood stardom can get an edge on the competition at the Hollywood Advantage at NRG Center October 17 and 18 with a seminar and workshop on casting and entertainment presented by industry professionals.

The Nationwide Talent Academy will teach current proven techniques in vital areas such as auditioning and improvisation while providing valuable insight to the business from the experts’ point of view. What casting directors are looking for and what actors need to know about talent agents, managers, casting directors, resumes, pictures, and more will be covered in a complete intense seminar on Saturday. An additional seminar on Sunday will provide material tools to use in pursuing a career including a Headshot, valuable contact lists, an audition tape, and more. Aspiring actors can take one or both seminars. This is a rare opportunity to learn the proper steps to seriously pursuing a career in acting from top professionals in their field.

“This seminar and workshop gives people in the area an opportunity to meet folks they don’t usually get to meet. If someone was in Los Angeles, it would be no big deal,” said Jeff Gitlin, who is heading the seminar. “Houston is one of the largest community theater areas in the country. We’re providing the means and the ability to meet these professionals who are outstanding in their fields.”

The Nationwide Talent Academy brings in four experts with long experience in stage, film, and television.

Jeff Gitlin has been an L.A. talent agent and manager and has worked with ICM, 3 Arts, and Abrams Artists. He has produced the wildly popular interactive hit play “Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding” in NYC, Las Vegas, Maui, and Bermuda.

Barbara Lauren is a leading Los Angeles and Las Vegas casting director with over 4,000 projects cast. She is a recipient of the CLIO Award for Commercial Casting.

“Barbara’s specialty is casting commercials,” said Gitlin. “She has over 4,000 commercial credits, and has done TV and films. She was involved in the ‘Modern Family’ episode that just won an Emmy. She’s also an actress.”

Larry Pellegrini is the co-creator and original director of the Off-Broadway cult hit “Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding” who helped make it a national phenomenon. He has had an overall development deal with Castle Rock Entertainment.

“Larry wrote and directed ‘Tony and Tina’s Wedding.’ It’s grossed $450 million around the world,” said Gitlin. “He’s worked with CastleRock Entertainment to develop TV series. Larry brings a director/actor/theater background to this event.”

Randi Siegel specializes in finding, developing & producing talent, projects, and in overall career strategy. She has worked closely with the career development of clients such as David Spade, Adam Sandler, Bob Saget, Rob Schneider, and Andy Dick, and launched and developed the careers of many talents, most notably Jimmy Fallon.

“Randi and I used to hang out in comedy clubs, scouting talent and learning the business. She discovered Jimmy Fallon and developed his career, successfully leading him to Saturday Night Live” said Gitlin. “She was an EVP and Executive Producer at National Lampoon, so she brings a manager/producer/studio background to the table.”

The Hollywood Advantage is an educational industry seminar open to all ages. It is not an audition or guarantee of work. It is a workshop to give actors tools to better pursue career opportunities.

“We have assembled a great team to work with diverse backgrounds. Whether it’s stand-up comedy, musicals, theater, acting, commercials or more behind the camera stuff, like directing, we’re bringing an expert in that field. That’s what makes this seminar so unique,” said Gitlin.

“Some companies say, ‘We’ll make you a a star.’ We don’t say that. We’ll give you the tools to take the next steps,” Gitlin said. “We’ll walk you through what to expect at an audition. We’ll get you familiar with the lingo.

“We’ll also let you know what to look for to tell if someone is a scam artist. I saw some company in Oklahoma charging $8,000 to get people started in the business. I was appalled! That’s what gave me the idea to bring this vast resource to areas like Houston.”

The seminar will be held at NRG Center, One NRG Park, in Houston. A parent or guardian must accompany minors.

Registration information is available at http://www.nationwidetalentacademy.com.

DRAWING: We will have ten (10) tickets in our drawing. Each ticket is worth $300. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. To enter, CLICK HERE.

Celebration of Freedom Video Contest

Pearland residents get backyard makeover from nationally syndicated show

Lipford, Kelli and Wes Holloman enjoy the new fire pit area.

Lipford, Kelli and Wes Holloman enjoy the new fire pit area.

Pearland residents Wes and Kelli Holloman didn’t think much about entering a contest on the Today’s Homeowner Facebook page to win an outdoor living area, so when a producer called them several weeks later to tell them they were in the top five finalists, they were shocked.

“We had really wanted to do something with the back yard,” said Wes. “Time and money always seemed to get in the way. [Producer] Chad called on a Friday and interviewed us. We were excited but didn’t get our hopes up.”

The next Monday, Today’s Homeowner host Danny Lipford called the Hollomans personally to tell them they won.

“We were literally bouncing off the walls!” said Kelli.

“I like to make those phone calls,” Lipford said. “I like giving people good news!”

Wes and Kelli didn’t just enter their names into a drawing for the contest. They took the time and effort to write an essay and make a video about why they should win the outdoor living area.

“We got 4,500 entries, which is pretty good considering there was some work involved,” said Lipford. “If it’s just entering a name, we usually get around 20,000 entries, so you see the contrast.”

“We narrowed the entries down based on need, cleverness of the video and essay, the overall spirit of then homeowners and we always like to choose homeowners that are fun,” Lipford said.

The Hollomans’ video can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/dannylipford.media/videos/vb.78521859410/10153362740699411/?type=1&theater.

Lipford, his crew, including daughter Chelsea and the fine folks from Pavestone Co., descended on the Hollomans’ east Pearland home on Tuesday (May 26) and worked over two days to transform their simple backyard into an outdoor paradise.

They happened to make it to Pearland just in time for the floods.

“That was interesting,” said Lipford. “The heavens opened, but we just kept working!”

Wes and Kelli found the whole experience inspiring. “I’m not a handy guy,” said Wes. “But we helped with some of this and realized that home improvement doesn’t have to be hard.”

“In fact, we want to keep going and finish the backyard ourselves,” said Kelli. “They gave us great ideas about how simple and easy things can make a big difference.”

The Hollomans and their five children, ages 5 to 15, actually built the fire pit. “We got all five kids involved,” said Kelli. “I think it gave them a sense of ownership and pride, and it was a great family project.”

“We really wanted a space where the older kids can have their friends over and have a bit of privacy,” said Kelli. “It’s like this all the time in here,” she added, referring to the sounds of five kids and their friends enjoying the hot day inside.

“It ended up being like having another room added onto the house,” said Wes. “We have more square footage we can use.”

The Hollmans said that the whole experience was very easy. “Everyone was very professional. They were all so friendly and easy to work with. And, of course, we love what they have done!” said Kelli.

Lipford is a 36-year veteran remodeling contractor and media personality known to audiences as Host of the Emmy-nominated and nationally-syndicated home improvement TV show and nationally-syndicated radio show, “Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford.”

He served as the home improvement expert for CBS’s “The Early Show” and The Weather Channel for more than a decade.

His extensive hands-on experience and understanding of the industry make him the go-to source for all things having to do with the home – from advice on simple repairs, to complete remodels, to helping homeowners prepare their homes for extreme weather and seasons.

Lipford has made more than 160 national television appearances, has been a longtime contributor to Better Homes & Gardens Magazine and BHG.com and is a source for hundreds of other popular magazines and websites each year.

Lipford’s daughter, Chelsea Lipford Wolf, has found her own success with an Internet show called “Checking In with Chelsea,” which has already won two Webby awards.

Today’s Homeowner is based out of Mobile, Ala. Unfortunately, the Houston area is only one of three markets that the show is not aired in on television or radio.

Episodes, tips and tricks can be viewed on the website at TodaysHomeowner.com.
