Third Annual Red Carpet Gala to benefit students

Logo Red Carpet Event PageThe Adult Reading Center will hold the 3rd Annual Red Carpet Gala on Saturday, October 3rd from 7 pm to midnight at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Pearland.

Mrs. Dale Pillow, President & CEO of Adult Reading Center, secured the date for this year’s fundraising gala, which will feature an emphasis on being the “only red carpet gala event in Pearland.”

“We wanted this year’s event to offer a more spacious atmosphere, to allow for a larger layout and more space for guests to enjoy the evening,” said Pillow. “The use of the Knights of Columbus Hall will continue our community partnership with the Knights, and provide a more spacious and accommodating venue for gala.”

DJ entertainment will be provided by PRP Entertainment and a casino setup will be provided by SW Casino Productions. The evening will also feature a sports memorabilia auction, and a raffle of packaged baskets including an Astros suite. Light bites will be provided by Joe’s Catering and there will also be a bar setup.

Individual ticket prices are $100, and sponsorship opportunities start at $500. For more information, contact Jessica Peterson, Director of Development, at 281-485-1000 or jessica.peterson@adultreadingcenter.org.

CLICK to Help ARC Win $10,000!

ARCLogoWe are here today to ask you to take less than five minutes of your day to help us win a social media competition and receive $10,000. The contest is being held by the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and has the goal to increase awareness of the crisis and importance of literacy in Houston through social media. You have from August 14 to September 19 to participate. The winners will be announced on September 22.

Two prizes will be granted in this exciting competition. For first place, a total of 20 iPads with a portable charging station or a $10,000 cash gift will be awarded. Second place is a cash gift in the amount of $2,500.  If we win the contest, we would choose the $10,000 cash gift and most likely use it towards building a parking lot. We have a great amount of students and teachers who have to park on the street, or get creative with the spots we currently have.

This is the right moment for you and all of your virtual friends and followers to take your phones out of your pockets (or tablets, laptops, computers…) and start supporting literacy. The Adult Reading Center’s goal is to have the largest number of likes on its own logo posted on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/AdultReadingCenter) starting TODAY, August 14, as well as the largest number of retweets of our logo, shared on Twitter (@AdultReadingCtr or  twitter.com/AdultReadingCtr). The organization with the highest amount of combined hits, takes the grand prize.

The Center counts on your support, as it contributes to making their adult learners’ dream of literacy a step closer.

Many people wonder how they could contribute to our local community, when they can’t make a monetary donation.
