PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) — A 9-year-old who is battling brain and spine cancer received a visit from law enforcement officers and was made an honorary trooper Friday night.
Devarjay Daniel has had 10 surgeries in the last two weeks. So, on Friday he received a special visit from the men he looks up to the most. More than 30 Pearland officers from Precinct 8 and the Department of Public Safety showed up to this house to swear him under oath.
Daniel was dressed in police uniform from head to toe, even sporting a campaign hat. Officers even let him sit in the cop car.
His family said he has always wanted to have a career in law enforcement.

On Tuesday (April 26), a resident in the area of 2200 Cedar reported suspicious circumstances involving two males in a silver vehicle. The caller didn’t recognize the vehicle or the male driver and passenger and called police.
The Pearland Police Department is mourning the loss of retired Detection K9, Nancy. The 12-year-old Belgian Malinois was the loyal partner and companion of Detective Eric Morton and served the Pearland community from November 2005 until her retirement in early 2014. Nancy was certified for narcotics detection, human tracking and article searches.
The John Hargrove Environmental Complex trail located at 5800 Magnolia Road is now open. The grant-funded project includes a 1.7-mile recreational nature trail, sidewalk connections, trailhead signage and nine additional parking spaces at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center.
The City of Pearland is now offering a secure location for Pearland residents to help ensure and enhance their safety and to minimize the opportunity for an encounter to go wrong for internet-based purchases from websites such as Craigslist and eBay.
Design will soon be underway for the Delores Fenwick Nature Center, an educational facility coming to the John Hargrove Environmental Center.
