Grapevine, Texas: February 11, 2020: The Grapevine Rotary Club, along with the REC of Grapevine, sponsored and hosted a Senior Valentine Dinner and Dance at The REC of Grapevine in the elegantly decorated Stewart Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 11 from 5:30-9 p.m.
The event entertained 106 seniors for an evening of fine dining, live music by Now and Then, and festive dancing. Seniors dressed in cocktail attire enjoyed souvenir photos, chocolates, wine and roses, and promised to return next year.
Grapevine Rotary Club’s Senior Valentine’s Dinner and Dance is coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 11th from 5:30-9:00 p.m.
It will be hosted this year at The REC of Grapevine in the beautifully decorated Stewart Hall. You must be a Grapevine resident age 65+ to attend.

SeniorTradeShows.com will host the Pearland Senior Expo on March 6 from 9am – 2pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 2101 Shadow Creek Parkway. This FREE event will feature a light lunch and grab bags to the first 100 attendees.
The Expo will feature valuable services, products and resources tailored to the senior community. There will also be free health screenings, guest speakers and live entertainment.

November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Many types of memory problems are reversible, and all are treatable!
The Brazoria County Library System (BCLS) and volunteers with the Brazoria County Alzheimer’s Awareness Project will be offering free memory screenings at all Brazoria County Libraries on Tuesday, November 12 through Tuesday, November 19. Find out if you might benefit from further testing. It’s fun, it’s easy, and only takes a few minutes!

Seniors (55+), are you looking for something to do this summer in order to get out of the heat? Did you ever consider Pearland’s Knapp Center, located at 2424 S. Park Ave (281-485-9875), for a day of great activities and meeting new people? One resident refers to the Knapp Center as a “55+ club house but without the tennis and golf.” Best of all, the Knapp Center is FREE for residents.
There is something for everyone at the Knapp Center. It encourages you to drop in and take classes, exercise or just socialize with friends. The Knapp Center offers a cool/safe walking club at the Recreation Center (Indoor Track) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00a-9:00a however you must be a member of the Knapp Senior Center to participate. If you play cards (Skip-Bo, Phase 10, Pinochle, etc.), dominos or other games, table games are available. There are all other kinds of crafts, special events and exercise classes available
The center also offers lunch to those 60+ who live in Brazoria County, provided by ActionS. Lunches are served daily at approximately 11:30 a.m. and require a reservation with the Center by 10 a.m. the day before you plan to have lunch. Those wishing to utilize the lunch program must also be approved through ActionS in order to receive lunch.

The Melvin Knapp Senior Center is a recreation facility for active adults 50 years of age and older. The center is operated by Pearland Parks and Recreation and offers a variety of programs, activities, trips and classes that are either low-cost or absolutely free. Membership to the center is free for Pearland residents and just $50 a year for non-residents.
The facility includes a fitness room complete with three treadmills, two stationary bikes and a weightlifting machine. The center also features a computer lab with four computers and internet access. Other amenities include rooms for crafting, games exercise and quilting. The building’s multipurpose room is used for dancing, socializing, dining and much more. Join classes at the Westside Event Center on Mondays and Thursdays for Line Dancing or on Tuesdays for Zumba Gold. Classes are offered from 11-12 noon in the banquet hall.
