DART is hiring Bus Student Operators and Rail Student Operators in preparation for the planned redesigned bus network scheduled to launch in January of 2022, providing greater frequency and longer hours, as well as better access to jobs.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will host a second hiring event for Bus and Rail Operators on Tuesday, August 3, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the DART Ways, Structures & Amenities – North Division Building (9717 Abernathy Avenue, Dallas)

With DART’s redesigned bus network scheduled to launch in January of 2022, providing greater frequency and longer hours, as well as better access to jobs, DART is hiring passionate and motivated Bus and Rail Operators in preparation for the planned increase in service. Save the Date Job Fair at Veteran’s Park Event Center July 30

Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce is moving forward with a multi-industry job fair, hosted with the help of the City of Grand Prairie, at the city’s Veteran’s Activity Center Building, located at 925 Conover Drive, Grand Prairie, TX 75051

Because of the enormous need for employees, the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce has taken the lead to provide an event to help Chamber member and non-member employers fill the positions of which they are so sorely in need.

Hotel Vin, Harvest Hall set to host hiring fair in Grapevine

Grapevine’s Hotel Vin and Harvest Hall will host a hiring fair Oct. 22 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. inside the Hotel Vin Bordeaux Ballroom, 215 E. Dallas Road, Grapevine.

The fair is open to any individual interested in one of at least 40 available positions within the hotel and food hall.

Hotel Vin, which opened in September, and Harvest Hall, which is set to open in November, are interested in hiring for various restaurant and hotel positions, such as wait and bar staff, kitchen staff, housekeeping and valet staff, and shipping and receiving clerks. Other specialty positions include stewards, bellhops, maintenance technicians and housemen.

Interviews are guaranteed for all attendees, and offers will be made on the spot.

Capital One to lay off 286 employees from Plano office by Oct. 1

A Capital One spokesperson said the layoffs are tied to a May 8 announcement that Capital One had sold off approximately $17 billion worth of first and second lien mortgages to DLJ Mortgage Capital.

“Strong market demand enabled us to negotiate and sign this complex transaction more quickly than we thought possible,” Capital One CFO R. Scott Blackley said in a company news release.

Pearland Fire Now Recruiting Paid Volunteers

PFDBecome a Pearland firefighter and join the ranks of the brave men and women who serve the Pearland community. The City offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for paid volunteer applicants pursuing a career in fire. The Pearland Fire Department uses a combination of full-time, part-time and paid volunteers. Pearland is a growing, professional department with many opportunities for advancement.  For the paid volunteer, the scheduled test date is Saturday, Nov. 14, but applicants must apply online by Nov. 10.

Volunteer firefighters are responsible for a wide variety of fire services including: emergency medical aid, emergency rescue and all other suppression and prevention activities in protecting life and property. In Pearland, the volunteer firefighters are assigned regular shifts that provide both flexibility and some certainty.

Along with a job-related assessment process, those selected will be subject to a medical exam including drug screen, fingerprinting through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a background investigation; and in accordance with Federal law, applicants must be able to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
